CSNO is looking for California school nurses and other school based health care providers! As a collective team, we can make a difference in the lives of students statewide. You Matter to Us! School nurses have rallied statewide to provide services to students and faculty during this pandemic. Our work has just begun. As the vaccine age decreases with FDA approval, CSNO will continue to support school nurses by having professional learning experiences, COVID-19 conversations and providing resources. Join by September 30th to take advantage of early bird rates.
CSNO is the ONLY Statewide organization supporting professional school nurses and school health team members. Our organizational objectives are to ensure school nurses have the skills and resources needed to provide exceptional care; every student will have access to a credentialed school nurse; and students will have optimal health and attend class ready to learn. Types of CSNO Membership
There are seven types of membership categories so that joining CSNO is available to nearly everyone.
Active members are registered nurses holding state credentials to practice as school nurses in California. School nurses on leave of absence or engaged in full-time teaching, administration or study or retired, retain their right to active membership. Active members shall have all rights and privileges.
Associate members are allied professionals (RN's, LVN's, UAP's) employed by school boards of education, a public agency, a governing board of a private school, or a board of trustees of an institution of higher education. Associate members have all rights and privileges but may not vote or hold elective office.
Retired members are school nurses who have held active membership, but are retired. Retired members have all rights and privileges.
Student members are registered nurses who are working on the requirements for a clear school nurse credential or those who possess a clear school nurse credential and are pursuing an advanced nursing degree. Fully credentialed school nurses actively employed are ineligible to have student membership status. Membership in this category cannot exceed seven years.
Life members may be past State Presidents of CSNO who have retired. Life members shall have all rights and privileges but may not hold elective office.
Corporate/Business/ Professional Organizations are persons or Organizations whose members are not eligible for Active or Associate membership in CSNO
Member-at-Large are those persons who hold a special interest in or who are working with CSNO and who do not fit into any other CSNO membership classification.
